Search Engine Algorithms are Different!

Search Engine Algorithms are Different!

By now, I'm sure we've all heard the term "Bing" when we talk about search engines. There is a considerable amount of interest and speculation, about how this name change is going to effect SEO strategies, for those who have been using only Google as their primary engine for submissions, optimization, keyword searches and research.

It appears Bing is wanting to take some of the search engine market share from Google, and has made some drastic changes in an attempt to be a major competitor, in the search engine arena. Many people have made it very clear, they felt that Google had a monopoly on the search engine market. I personally feel that each of the big three major search engines have a different approach to providing information to the general public. This is evident from the different results you get when you query a particular subject matter with each of the big three. It is quite obvious to me, that the different results are derived from the different algorithms that each of these engines uses...naturally the results displayed to the user, is going to be somewhat different.

When you type in a search query on Bing, you will get relevant results regarding the subject matter, searched for. The results when you "Google It" are different than Bing simply because of those different algorithms used. Many SEO company experts, have steered away from Live Search, because of the old algorithms used. To get the maximum effectiveness from the old Live Search and Google, you would have to have optimized two totally different ways. In essence, you would have had to build, two different sites.

With the new Bing algorithm, we are all going to have to wait and see, exactly what changes one has to make in their web site, to make it search engine friendly with all the major engines. In the meantime, just keep on working, fine tuning your site for maximum optimization, using the rules you understand for now. If you've been in this business for a while, you already know that the algorithms change frequently, and if you try to understand all the changes, you'll have no time to do what you need to do, to get the job done.

The exact algorithms with the search engines is a closely guarded secret. Many of us who make our living, optimizing web site for our clients, would like, some of these secrets to be shared now, however, the only way to figure out what works and don't work is to experiment on various thing we have heard about, together with proven methods of optimization, we are using now. Sometimes a change will be totally effective, and other times the experiment has no impact on the results with the search engines at all. A good tracking system is vital if you're going to follow this process. The best way is to secure the services of an SEO professional that is experienced in this ongoing chore, and has proven results, that, they can get it done.

If you study it closely, you will see that the new Bing, has some similarities to the old Live Search methods used. It is my experience, the new Bing provides some noticeable improvement from the old Live Search which we will discuss briefly here.

I appears that back links, are possibly not as important to Bing as before. Bing requires less back inks than Google, when trying to acquire higher page ranks. However, in my experience Bing gives you more credit for links, than what Google provides. This becomes a matter of preference with each SEO professional, who you may be working with now.

It appears that the quantity of quality inbound links, might not be as important as having good anchor text. Since anchor text is an important measurement of quality inbound links, you will get credit here with Bing or Google. Either way you win by having a well balanced quality inbound link. Since the quantity of back links is of less importance to Bing, link spamming will get you in trouble with Google.
